Mario's possible name could come from the origin of it. I heard Mario was the name of Miyamoto(sp)'s landlord at the time... Whatever that landlord's last name was prolly the same as the landlord's =3.

check wikipedia.it states that neither Mario or Luigi have last names.that would be on Luigi's page.look up Luigi on wikipedia.

Its Mario. Both the movie, and certain video games (Dr. Mario, Mario Brothers) show that Mario is his last name. Which is kinda sad that Luigi gets two names and Mario just gets his repeated.

I'm not sure but in a skit from G4's Attack Of The Show with Kevin as Jack Thompson, it showed that his last name was "Limbarney".

Either that or his last name may be "Oiram" which is Mario backwards.
