Koto. Cat Fox or Both

yesterday a friend and I were arguing about what type of Demon Koto is. It's beleaved she is a Fox. But yet she has the eyes and whiskers of a cat where as youko Kurama does not have whiskers or slitted puples. Is it possible Koto could be a cross breed between a Fox and a Cat.

Her tail looks really foxy to me - bushy with the white tip. But it's such an inconsequential detail that I've really never cared. I've never come across a specific breed for her in any YYH guides, etc, but to further complicate things the kanji for her name means "little rabbit".

That's why I'm pretty sure that she could be a cross breed because they keep going one and on about how kurama is a fox. But Koto it was never offically specified what she was. We do of sorts see Koto's family and they all look like her. People only think of her as a fox girl because she has a fox like ears and tail. But in the episode where Bui starts his fight with Hiei. Koto discribes her ears. So tell me this. If Koto is a fox why does she have the eyes and whiskers of a cat where as Kurama does not.

It's possible Koto can still be a fox even if she doesn't look like Youko Kurama. After all, there are many species of foxes in the world, so who's to say all fox demons would look the same as well? In addition, Kurama is definitely modeled after foxes in Japanese myth (taking over the body of a baby, being 1000+ years old and having several silver tails), while Koto has no indication of this, so she could be some kind of normal fox.

I have no idea what quote you're talking about, but I assume it's from the dub. You have to take anything said in the dub with a huge grain of salt.

But really, in conclusion, since there's no breed specified for Koto, just assume whatever you like. Obviously there is no official answer and it's kind of useless if you're just here to argue your point in order to get people to either agree with you or be amazed by your train of thought.

Lol, I wasn't directly quoting her. It's just the jist of what she said, but she did claim to be a fox. It was in the original Japanese dvd's translated into english subs.

In the manga, Koto goes "meow". Plus, some cats have bushy tails with tips.
Its possible she is a cat demon, but because of the ears, tail and red hair can throw people, even the dub company mihjt have had a hard time telling the difference.
