Why? Is the next election on 2010 or earlier?

No. 2012. The President of the United States is elected to serve a term of four years.

Ohhh...and how many terms can they serve?

Two. The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution states, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice [. . .]" This was ratified on February 27, 1951. Franklin Delano Roosevelt served about 3 terms. It's a shame that this amendment wasn't made law before his presidency -.- Oh, and Grover Clevland is the only President to serve non-consecutive terms. He was first elected in 1892, and his term ended in 1897. He was then preceded by William McKinley (who was assassinated). And then he served his second non-consecutive term from 1885–1889.

And, he is the only President who was Democrat during the "Republican Era" of the US Presidency.
