I think really depends on the director adn where the last movie ended. Some movies leave them selves open for a sequal, others don't.

A decent sequel is rare. Unless it was intended to be a trilogy or whatever from the start, most are just bad.
Shrek 2 was good
as was Spiderman 2
as was 2 fast 2 furious
and XXX 2 wasnt really a good movie per se, it was entertaining

X-2, Spiderman 2, LOTR The Two Towers was good, Shrek 2, Sequals to Batman, Lthal Weapon 2-4, Die Hard 2,3, Rocky series, etc. were all great

I would say it depends. Terminator 2 was good but Terminator 3 was, meh.

i agree terminator 2 / 3 and ghostbusters 2 not to mention x-men 2 the second mighty ducks movie was stupid though so it really in my mind dends on the writter
