What is your reality?

Post by KillerBeef »

Well this is a two part question, the first part is what got you so intrested in NGE, and what do you think about how NGE ended (did you like the series ending, or the movie endings) what do you think it ment?

For me I was hooked when I first saw the entire series (I had kept hearing from my friends that this was a great anime and how awsome the fights and story line are, and how just generaly messed up the chracters are) so i had ordered the series, and Rei had caught my attention on how she looks, and how she acted, not caring if she lives or dies, as long as the mission was complete, no doubts no regrets. I was hooked on how the characters acted with each other, and I wanted to know what would become of them.

On the ending, I liked the series ending because it made me think more on what the series was trying to point out, I keep remembering the part from the last two episodes when Shinji is sitting in the chair and he says that he doesnt know why everyone hates him and Asuka say 'Are you Stupid?!? thats just all in your head' or something to that effect, saying that people see things differently, but all are the truth, and only time there not is when someone changes there opinions, and one person may treat the other a certain way, may show them there are close friends so they tease, while others may see it as hazing and picking on someone. then theres the movies, it filled in little parts the series didnt, gave a new dimention to the story, and tho it didnt make me think as much as the series ending, it made me want to watch the series over and over to see what else it filled in.

I belive Shinji became 'God' or something similar, because he became the last human being to be in exsistance after the third impact, every other human becam LCL fluid and there souls returned to the Egg, and Shinji had a choice on how he wanted the world, I belive that its not that he got to remake the world, because of one scene where they show 01 floating in space with a double sided Lance, so I belive he was the last being to show humanity so the Eva had to keep him alive, I am not sure why, but to keep Shinji from going insane she (all Evas are Female belive it or not) let him create a world where he can live forever in, and he choose the post third impact version, but what I could not tell or remember about it is did he recreate everyone or did he choose to only keep one other person, Asuka (some say its his perfect woman, a mixture of Rei, Asuka, Misato, possibly even his mother and Karwo). I belive he tried to kill her because he still hated her for rejecting him, and sence he was so hurt, he wanted her to feel as much pain as he did, shinji feared being unwanted, not needed, hated, and Asuka gave him his fears, Asuka feared being killed, dieing, and Shinji was going to grant her fears... but couldnt because he cared for her so much.

i really don't remember how i go inot the whole series. I remember seeing the evas or a friend telling me about it. But I bought the box set and i thought it be another mecha anime but to me it is more than that. The idea of how we are created and what happens was interesting to me. I also felt a personal connection with shinji at time, as pathetic as that sounds, which intrigued me even more.
I just can't pick one side, the movie ending or the series ending. In the end shinji found his happyness( i think he wanted a world with no one except people he can trust and i think that he chsoe Asuka, rei and Misato to be with him.) I'll just stop here. for now

I'm not really into robot anime. But NGE was amazing, from the first episode, to the last movie. It just got me hooked. I love the storyline, I can relate to the characters, and it's just, wow.

As for how it ended. The last two episodes pissed me off. I didn't understand what was going on, at all. It was too bad that it was rushed. Death and Rebirth, it was just a bunch or re-caps. I didn't really learn anything new, and nothing else was really explained. The End of Evangelion, is one of my favorite anime movies now though. It was amazing. However, after Asuka was killed, I was lost. But it was still, amazing.

Thanks to KillerBeef though, because I understand the ending a lot better.
