Ravenloft (Gothic Fantasy) RP Ch. V "Labarinth"

The man from before came out of the crowd, as if he had been watching for some time, he grabbed the girl's arm, making her drop the bag of gold. He heald steadfast as she kicked and struck ou at him. He then said "Calm down, I need you for something..." the girl didn't stop and shouted "Let me go!" several times. at about that time the guard finally caught up. "This Girl's mine, she stole my pay and she'll pay for it with her life." In an abrasive irritated tone.
"I'm sorry, but I need this girl for something, you can have your gold back." the strange man said as he reached down and pickd up the bloody bag, and offered it to the guard, who took it.
"I'm still going to kill her weather you want it or not!" The gurad said.

Seeing it was the mav with the scent of the note from before, Lazuli walked over to him. Placed the note in the bag of gold, then walked off. She went walking in the other dirrection.

Since what she had planned on doing was done, she hoped she began to make her way back through the center of town. The stench of just death and desase was almost unbarable, but holding her breath she walked quickly. Finally out of the center of town, she could breath much more freely now. Walking out of the borders, the sweet smell of the woods was filling her nostrals once more.

The sounds of those from before was gone, so walking to the wood disappearing almost; she climbed her tree, placed her cloak there then made her way back to her regurlar tree. All the while,
***That city is getting worse by the moment. Each time I go the smell and mistreatment get's much more worse... I'd help, but not in the city walls. Too dangerous, out here though, in my woods I'd help any creature that is endanger, be it brute or beast. I feel bad for those that live in the city walls...***
She thought. Then finally back to her tree. She jumped down for a couple moments. Knowing there was a private lil pond near by, she headed toward it.

Once near the rock enterance, she took off all her clothing and went in for a long relaxing bathe. She does this everttime she goes into the desase riddled city. She had to wash the stink of the place off her...

The stenh of blood grows closer, the smell of the man from the street is almost overpowered by it. a few faint words can be heard through the forest "only one more,"

Something wasn't right, smelling the air, Lazuli caught a wiff of the city stench.
***Something is not right here, almost seems like evil has entered my forest home...***
She thought. The smell was steadily growing bigger. Quickly jumbing back out of the water, putting her clothes on she took to the trees.

Jumbing up in the tress, she could definatly smell that something wasn't right here... Knowing that she had to protect her home, she took off toward the stench. The foul smell was almost over bearing, but she could block it out ebough to just follow it. Staying out of any watchful human sight range, she could see the man from the city...

***What coulds he want with my wood? Why does he smell of something foul and evil?***
She thought, nothing seemed to make anysence anymore. Keeping to her promise to protect her home, she followed him out of his ranfge of view, careful to not make a single sound...

THe man was cacked in blood, the same one from the city, and the girl was no where around him. He drew back his hand and a yellow jacket landed on it, he then turned to look at Lazuli, tossing the letter at her with the spike, making it strike the ground in front of her.

Knowing that he had seen her, she was a bit startled by it. Like a cat sitting on a perch, she backed up rearancging all her paws on the branch. Seeing the same note at her feet on the forest floor, she was getting a bit sceptical of the man.

She didn't trust the note, nore the man either. She could smell the blood on him, it was the blood of the girl... Moving to a branch cautiously, she was drawing nearer to the man. Clearig her throat,
"Why do you bring your evil to my forest home?"
She asked him in a very human voice. She was sitting on the branch in a postition ready to strike when needed...

He fully turnned around "that's where you were" he said in a calm voice. It was just hapenstance that I came upon you first, I msut admit, however you would serve nicely. You don't have to be like that anyway, your'e not going to be able to kill me anway. That guard couldn't learn, and neither could his comrades..." He then walked slowly twards her, picking up the letter. "if you're not going to read this then I guess you should jsut come down and hear me out. "

His eyes seem to be sad somehow, and his face seemed almost unnatural now that closer examination was possible., he wore an expression of pain on his face, yet no wounds showed.

Lazuli was really uneasy around this man. Once he started to approach her, she aited fomr him to stop. Then as he did, she had backed up to her pfrevious branch...
"I don't trust you... Your words sound to hollow and fake... I'm not stupid, you have blood all over you, yet no scars at all... I can hear you fine from here, don't come any closer..."
She told him, then still in her more ready to defend strike,
***I can smell the evil rolling off him, he's way too good to be true...***
She thouht, still not letting her gaurd down for a second.
"If your going to read, read from there..."
She told him in alow growly voice now...

"Somone took my daughter from me, I need to get her back, and I need somone else's help to do it, I need something from you, once I have it you cn go." The man said, beginning to show an even greatehr sadness, yet a tone of obsession fickered in his voice.

[Captain Corkscrew]

With a large snuff,
"Get a lacky... I don't work with humans..."
She replied to him in an almost appoled voice.
***Working with a human, an evil one at that. What a funny thought, I have my wood to care for...***
She thouht, her tail swishing unpaintently.
"I see no use in this convertastion. Just go to the city and find a probono chump to work for you..."
She finished, then got ready to turn and leave him to find a lacky somewhere else...

"no one in the city has the right... atributes... to assist me, unfortunately, I've already obtained everythign from there that I could, if you don't want to come willingly then I suppose you could run, but then I'd have to hunt you down..." he said, now far more serious and obseeively, almost as if he was lusting after her somehow. "It has to be you!" he said more firmly, and sadisticaly, his face starting to fade revealing a deathly gaze of sorrow. His skin now an almost dad white and his clothing in parts showing as an irridecent black robe.

Watching as the man was showing his true colours, she was a bit taken back his choice of words,
"How dare you bring your evil into my woods! I don't know how I could have what you "need", but I'm not leaving my home... Go find another lacky with my "attributes"..."
She told him a very serious voice. She knew he was evil, she never trusted his scent.
***If it'sa hunt he wants, it's hunt he shall get...***
She thought.

Never plannig n being anyones "lacky" she found this rather insulting... Humans were something she wished never too se, now she had one askig for her pretty darn well demandig her to work for him... She thought this is was just a disgrace for all she stood for. Being fair, if he did win her over someway, she'd help him she figgured. Rather have her life taken then those of the wood...

Turnig her bak on him fully, the saddness he had in his fae meant nothing, the evilness in his voice and scent ment everything. Leaping into a branche up and over form where she was, she was going to lead him around the wood...

He was then standing on the branch of one of the nearby dead trees, emerging from it, now fully stripped of his disguise, his hands ended in twiseted bonelike fingers with ghastly claws on their ends. His body seemed to be inhumanly thin and twisted, the blood too seemed to have dropped away, levaing an almost ancinent smell drifting from his body. "Your forest is as evil as me, this evil permiates everything in this world, but you're too innocent to understand, you've never fealt true fear, or agony before," He said with almost sadistic obsessive pleasure, yet his foice now rang with a pa of sadness as well, and in spite of his twisted form his eyes still gave off an impression of pain.

Stopping dead in her tracks, she looked too see what he was doing to her home.
"Enough! I may hate humans, but unessary killings even more... Your killing my home, the animls I share this place with will die... I'd rather die then watch thousands of animals die because of me... What is that amkes me so "specail" to you? Looks to me as though you have all you need aready..."
She replied. Knowing that would be the last day she may ever see her lovely forest home, it saddened her so, but she'd rather be dead then let those she lived off of die as well...

Taking a deep breath once more, she knew what she had to do, for the good of her wood... Liig there for so long, it has been so good to her, she had to repay it so. Taking another couple leaps somewhat close to the half dead an evil man she asked him once more,
"Why do you "need" me?"
This still baffled her on to why he needed her to acompny him. She thought that maybe he'd have all he needed from other poeple and creatures, but she was very curious as to why she had to go...

"I need one last thing, that you seem to be able to give, I need somethign from the soul of a monster who has been placed unter a curse. You seemed to be appropriate when I noticed you while heading into town, and my illusory sounds heareded you there easily. I needed to obtain something else in that city anyway. I I watched you from afar at first, seeing if you would help anyone in peril, then I 'persuaded' the girl to take the guard's purse. I needed ehr blood anyway. Your blatant refusal to help her proved what a monster you were. I could sense the curse fom a great deal away." He then made gestures with each of his hands, one began to glow red and another black, he struck himself with both and began to dig his claws into his body, blood runing down his chest, creating black burn marks on the ground around him, and the branch he was on. He then seemed empowered somehow, his eyes seemed to be glowing with delight.

Lazuli was a bit appalled and surprised by his behviour. She had never seen anything put it's self through such pain then get such joy from it.
"I'm not a monster. You, I'm not sure if I can say the same for right about now... The city is not my place of home because of that I wouldn't want to disrupt the balance. I have been to that dreaded city few times, only it seems to be getting worse each time... Since it is not my place, I do not disturb and fix what is not broken. It looks to be the city's way to be so poverty stricken and full of evilness... I am but an outsider in there; if it was like that in wood, then I would never help any lost person find away home... I am not a monster, I just respect the natural order of any enviroment..."
She told him, she didn't need him thinking her a monster. Too many thought that as it is... She could tell by him starting to kill her home, she had to go. She didn't want to leave her peaceful home, it was all she had left.

Still watching his very odd actions that she did not understand, She hopped down from her branch. Walking closer to him, she stopped infront of his dead decaying tree.
"It is against my better judgement, but I can't have you killing this place..."
With another deep breath, this was rather hard for her,
"I shall help you... Your extremely evil, your actions confuse me greatly. I just can't have my home die because I was too stuborn... If I have to die to help the forest, so be it my fate..."
She told him in a very calm voice. She wasn't sure what she was getting herself into, but she's willing to risk it all to save her home from destruction. She took one quick bow to him, then went back to a branch perch to await his responce...
