which is slipknot, mudvayne, mushroomhead and what not. and thats the only type of metal i hate.

Those bands aren't really Metal. Actually the term Nu-Metal was made by Metal heads to mock the genre for trying to be Metal. The atually term is Aggro Rock. If anyone has noticed those bands are too light to be Metal, and they don't have all the requirements to be Metal.

What is real metal?

Sub-genres like Melodic Metal, Progressive Metal, Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Speed Metal, Thrash Metal, Folk Metal, Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal, Avan-Garde Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Post-Thrash, Groove Metal, Gothic metal, Etc.

I just call my music either Hard Rock or Hardcore. Bands like Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Slipknot i would put under hardcore. Bands like System of a Down (my personal favorite), Disturbed, and Mudvayne i put under Hard Rock.
