[Hayate XVIIIth]

Hikaru sighed as he made his way through the halls of the covenant. He hated to have to keep Acera in the stables, but she was much too big to hold in his own room, let alone keep her comfortable. Even so, Hikaru thought that the room was too small even for himself, with the low ceiling and tiny closet space. However, it was all he needed, and he was grateful for that.

He passed a servant and someone else and their Daemons on his way, nodding in respect to them and quietly wishing a good morning.

As he stepped into the stables, Acera poked her head out of her stall. "Good morning, Hikaru," the mare said, pushing her nose out in greeting.

"G'morning, Acera. Did you sleep well?" Hikaru inquired as he opened the stall door.

"Very well, thank you," she responded. She stepped out of her stall and stopped, looking back at Hikaru. The gray-haired teen nodded.

"Yeah, I felt it, too."

Kaelin stood and placed his book back on the many bookshelves in the common room, left and made his way along the corridor to the dinning area. Since there were not many Paladins at headquarters at one time, there was only one long dinning table, set out grandly for the Lords that ate at it. Only within the Church were they Lords, to ordinary people outside they were just Sir. Kaelin entered the dinning room and sat down at the head of the table and waited for the other Paladins. He knew Kai was in his suite, and also the strange half Japanese one Hikaru, but he did not know who else was here. Maia sat beside his chair, purring slightly as they waited, both human and Daemon content. Though there was the niggling in the back of their brains that told them that the new Jumper in the city was highly dangerous. Powerful, they could sense it, but only just. The scent was well hidden, but after breakfast, he would look into it. He wanted to discuss it with his fellow Paladins. He was sure it was a highly priced Jumper. A smile sprang to his lips. It may start a little compition.

Keiti stood beside an cafe, sipping hot chocolate and watching the people walk by. Shenron showed that they were both wary, as his ears were listening all around, and his eyes were sharp. Since she had not had breakfast yet, she wanted to visit the nearest cafe, only to find that they did no food, only hot drinks. She sighed as she drank her hot chocolate and looked towards the spires of the old Church, now Paladin headquarters, that rose above the other buildings of the city.
"I bet their having a merry breakfast in there. Snobs," Keiti made a disapproving sound and she and Shenron began to walk among the other shoppers.

Kai and Kira met a gray-haired paladin on their way to the dinning room. Kai nodded and mumbled a good morning as a response to the other's greeting. They finally arrived to the dinning room, where Kaelin was already waiting. He walked to the table and sat on an empty chair, no far from him. Kira sat behind him, as if guarding her companion. "Good morning." Kai said, looking at Kaelin.

Kaelin smiled and nodded as Maia regarded the other Daemon with polite curiosity. It was rare for any one but servants to have the same Daemon, but the proof that others did was write here. People often wondered if there was similarity between the two Humans, since a Daemon's form often portrayed their humans personality. Some wondered if there was a rivalry between the two young men, since they were both trained under one of the best Paladins in the country. Kaelin smiled as he remembered his friend asking if he hated Kai. He felt nothing but respect for the young man, already having achieved a higher death count than Kaelin himself. Kaelin stifled a chuckle at the thought. As his father taught him, it wasn't the quantity but the quality. Shaking thoughts from his head, he leaned forward.
"Good morning Kai, how fare you today? I heard you recently got a promotion to first level Paladin*. Congratulations. I hope my position as Head Paladin isn't in danger," he grinned and lent back into his chair as servants bought in plates of bacon and plates of all sorts of eggs, hard boiled, scrambled and others. Eggy bread and toasts were set down next to preserves and butters.
"I wonder who else will join us this morning? I wanted to speak with a few of you higher Paladins. As you may off sensed, there is a new powerful Jumper in Hartifeld. I wondered if you would partake in a little competition?" he smiled and rubbed Maia's head gently. The tiger began to purr deeply.

Kite and Kei walked down, past a cafe. "I'm tired," Kite said, sitting down on a bench. Kei fluttered around him, making small noises. "Kite, we can't stop here... They might find us at any minute!" Kite looked at the bat unworried, and pulled a sandwich from his bag. "At least let me eat a bit."

"I'm fine. And you? Yes, you heard correct. I'm a first level Paladin now. But don't worry, I don't want your position as the Head Paladin. I'm fine like this." Kai said, the same soft expression on his face. When the servants brought the food, he took some eggs and toasts to his plate and some coffee and started to eat slowly. "I don't know about the others. I saw the grey-haired boy, Hikaru, on my way here. I believe he was heading for the stables. And yes, I sensed this new Jumper. Must be very powerful..." He stopped and looked at Kira, petting her head gently. Then, he looked at Kaelin again, a large smile on his face. "I would love a little competition over this Jumper. Name the conditions."

Keiti walked past the cafe and stopped as she sensed Kite's Jumper energy. She sighed and quickly slipped into the seat opposite him,
"Don't worry, I'm a friend. But with a signal as big and loud as yours, I'm surprised there isn't about fifty Paladins swarming in this area. Don't you know how to mask your Scent? Especially here!" she grinned and held out her hand for him to shake, on which a clean piece of cloth was tied around.
"I'm Keiti, and this is my Daemon, Shenron," Shenron looked at Kite suspiciously, then at Kei.
"Keiti, lets leave him to it, he could bring the Paladins on us all," Keiti sighed and shook her head. Even if they haven't picked up on his Scent, they would have on mine, even with my masking. But if we're lucky some of the higher Paladins might not be in town, and they're the ones that are more likely to sense us and to pose a threat," she grinned at Kite
"Lets walk and talk if you want?"

Kaelin chuckled
"Good to hear my position isn't threatened then," he looked thoughtful, "Hikaru must be wanting to spend time with his Daemon. Fancy not being able to have them close to you all the time," he shivered, "Can't imagine what that could be like, can you Maia?" Maia growled softly
"No indeed, though some can cope with it,"
"Indeed. Anyways, to this Jumper. Lets say, 100 Gold coins to the winner. 100 Gold coins each from every one participating except the winner," he grins, "How does that sound? We have to get more people involved though, otherwise the winner will only get 100 gold if its only me and you,"

Kite looked up from his sandwich, and shook her head. "Kite." Kei landed on his shoulder, and eyed them suspiciously. She said, "Kei." He nodded a bit, and tucked the sandwich back in his pocket. "We can talk."

Kai shivered as well at the thought of not having Kira nearby. He looked at the beautiful white tiger, so much like Maia, still petting her head. "I agree with those terms. 100 pieces it is. I also agree with involving more people. I want to win more than 100 gold..." He looked at Kaelin and smirked. "Maybe Hikaru will join and ask a few others?"

Kaelin grinned back
"Already so confident you'll win? Last time I checked, I was Head Paladin, and Hikaru was a First Level as well. You're gonna have competition," Kaelin took some toast and munched on it thoughtfully. Maybe we should go find Hikaru and ask him? You said he was heading towards the stables? Shall we walk there? We can take some of this fine toast as we walk? And if we see any other Paladins, lets ask them if they want to join our little competition?" He went to stand and held his hand out in the direction of the door
"Shall we?" he said grinning

Keiti's smile dropped a little and she shrugged
"No walkies? Fine with me, I just feel safer on the move. So whats your name? I heard your daemon say Kite? Is that it? And what is she called?" Keiti smiled at Kei. Shenron stood on his hind legs and sniffed Kei, but Keiti knew only Daemons could touch other Daemons, humans weren't allowed.

Aki open the door she look at the sun shinning bright her fur was shining and it looks like it was very glitter. She was outside and seat down and look up at the sky smiling at the sky. The wind was breezing very gently her fur was getting comb with the wind its was not a cold wind its was slightly warm breeze because, of the sun.

"What a beatiful day it is today! I wonder where everyone is at i hope they come outside this is not the day they should stay inside. Its time to come out and feel the beatiful warm sun."

She lower her ears and transform to her male human form. She closes her eyes for a few min. and open it them. Aki was a human and was a male now. He stretches his hand his body to get his human so feeling how it was like being a human. Aki lover being his female animal form because, he felt more free more power more protected in his female animal form.

"Man why did i turned into a male human form. But, their are times i should be human and animal form to get the hang of both forms if i really might need it in the future.

Kite nodded. "My name is Kite, and my daemon," He motioned to the little bat. "Is Kei. What do you want to talk about? And I don't really care if we walk, talk, or stay here." He crossed his arms, and propped them on the table.

Keiti smiled warmly
"Hallo Kite and Kei. Lets walk," she got up and began walking towards some shops.
"We best make it look like we're ordinary shoppers, not part of a secret conspiracy otherwise people will report us!" she grinned and headed towards the shops. Shenron looked back at Kite and Kei
"I assume you've been a Jumper for a while, considering your age and arrogance, but I would suggest you follow her and her advice. Shes very good at this sort of thing," then he to loped towards the shops, after his human.

Kai got up from his seat, grabbing some toast as well. "I hope I'll have competition, or else it will be no fun when I win." he said, grinning. "Let's find Hikaru then." He walked to the door, Kira right beside him.

Kite shrugged, following her. Kei lifted from his shoulder and flew next to him. "Do you live around here?" He asked, unsure of what else to say.
