I can realise that the lights are annoying; the old "IRON REAVER, SOUL STEALER" bit, I used to roll my eyes and look away.

Though, InuYasha has won countless awards for its animation. Animating is hard; and sometimes they just use the stock footage to save funds and valuable time.

I watch the show for character interactions, not the fights.

Indeed, and the name of that attack was mistranlated. It's called Sankontessou with literally translated would be 3 bonds of iron or 3 souls of iron or something like that. since sankou/sankon=3 bonds, sankon=3 souls and tessou=iron (or "steel cage").
I for one prefer Hijintessou (aka Claws of blood).

But you are right, animation is a hard thing to do, so all in all Inuyasha is pretty good. But the lights still annoy me.

Yeah, anime is really hard. We tried to do some of it at school...and we totally failed XD

Yeah, my cousin is taking multimedia design for her college degree and she took 10 months to make a very simple 15 minute animation, so it just shows you the hard work.
