- Why am I not surprised. You know, music does not feed your grey cells. Shcool and learning do. So, your are going to the music studio? Well, I supose I will come too, after I have finished with the classes. I do teach Music History, don't I? OK, then, we shall see each other 6th period if I am correct. That is when your class has history - said Poe.

He took another cookie.

- Oh sorry, how impolite of me! Do you want a piece - he asked Sai with a smile.

It was very seldom to see Arthur smile.

- How darling you are, Sai - said Arthur looking at his watch.

He made a sigh.

- Good Lord, if only you existed, how time passes. I have to prepare for class. Fourth years with the lesson World War I. I can't wait - he said.

He took the last cookie and put it into Sai's hand giving her a kiss in the cheek.

- This is so that you can endure until the 6th period - he whispered to her.

He then turned around.

- Gotta run. See you soon - he said before rushing to get his stuff.

"History class. Why do British scoldings sound worse?" Masaru wearily made his way into the class room and took a seat in the front row. He didn't like to miss anything from a lecture. He found history pretty interesting, so this was one of his favorite classes.

"Ai Hanami huh?"

Time had passed and they had made her play over 8 pieces of music.
Hanami continued to play her piece with ease. It wasnt like it was her first time playing them. She had practised all night so she could get every single note right. Not only that, but she was also the one who had composed them.
Which made every performance splended.
As she finished the current song, the music staff applauded and the manager walked up to her. "Good Job, Hanami. - You have another client come in next. You know, Hamasaki Ayumi-san?"
Hanami nodded. "Yes, i know. Ill be here all afternoon." She said smiling.
"Good" The manager said with his own smile. "You can go take a break now" He said opening the door for her.
Hanami smiled as she walked past and out the door.

Arthur picked his stuff up and rushed on the fourth floor.

- Good day to you all, sorry for being late. Why, Mister Masaru, is that you? I was just going to look outside the window to see if you are in the park, but you are actually here, on time. Bravo, although that is not something you should be proud of, but OK. Now, we have History today, right? Yes, thank you. Now, during the last few lessons we spoke about the Balkan Wars and about the colonial empires of the European countires. Today, we enter a rather interesting historical period, called Wordl War I. Within the next several lessons, we are going to speak about the main events and battles of WWI, and the events that started and ended it. Todays lesson is titeled - THE BEGINNING OF WORD WAR I AND THE MAIN ALLIANCES. Before we begin, I would like someone to tell me everything he knows about todays lesson in short sentences. When, how and who. Those are the three questions someone is going to answer me. Now, who should I chose. Ah I know! Mr. Masaru. Please stand up and answer the question so that we can begin with the lesson - said Poe with a sarcastical smile on his face.

He then sat on his chair waited for Masaru to answer.

- Oh, and could someone please bring the map of Europe from 1914 so that I can show you some things - he asked while waiting

"I'm really bad with dates, so I don't know the when. What I do know is that the war started when Archduke of Austira-Hungary was assassinated by Gavrillo Princip of a small terrorist group from Serbia. Becuase of all of the alliances, what should have been a war between two countries turned into the Great War." Masaru took a deep breath after he was finished with this long explaination. He decided to have some fun with the rest of the class

"It was also a time when horrible new weapons were invented, such as mustard gas. This weapon burns your lungs out and is incredibly painful, but that is irrelevant to what you were about to teach." He sat back and smirked

- Ah, the famous Yperite. Good thing that you mentioned it. We are going to talk about the Yperite in a while, but the use of chemical weapons still has no relation to the beginning of the war. Well, Mr. Masaru I can't state that you knew nothing, but it is still pale and insecure, but never mind. I won't grade you for this. Now, we are in the year 1914, Mr. Masaru, this is elemental history, you will not pass my subject if you do not know these dates. We have already said that nowday Bosnia was annexed by Austria-Hungary in 1908. Six years later, the Austro-Hungarian army held some maneuvres in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia. Since the Emperor Francis Joseph I was too old to attend, his nephew and the legal succesor to the throne, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand decided to attend the maneuvers and open the state museum in Sarajevo in its new premises. Franz Ferdinand was born in Graz in 1863 as the son of Charles Ludwig, the brother of Francis Ferdinand. He was never in good terms with the other members of the royal family, but he nevertheless deserved his spot as succesor to the throne. In 1900 he married Sofia Chotek, a Bohemian Duchess. This marriage was not fully approved by Ferdinand's family bit that did not stop him from marrying Sofia. Together, they had 3 children: Princess Sophie von Hohenberg, Maximilian, Duke of Hohenberg and Prince Ernst von Hohenberg.

Now, to continue. Although he recieved death threats from Bosnia warning him not to come, Franz Ferdinand decided to go to Sarajevo considereing those threats stupid. In June he made way for Bosnia. Simultaneously, in Bosnia, a terrorist organisation called Mlada Bosna, Young Bosnia on English, started planning the assasination. Lead by Vladimir Gaćinović, the main ideologist, and Dragutin Dimitrijević Apis, a Serbian general and the leader of the organization, Mlada Bosna made a plan to assasinate Franz Ferdinand. The main plan was to throw a bomb on the car in which Franz Ferdinand was riding trough the streets of Sarajevo. Eight young men were selected to kill the Archduke. The 8 men were Trifko Grabež, Vaso & Veljko Ćubrilović, Danilo Ilić, Cvjetko Popović, Miško Jovanović, Nedeljko Čabrinović and Gavrilo Princip.

Now, when Franz Ferdinand came to Sarajevo, he was invited for a ride trough the city. Lots of people came to see him, but among the crowds on the streets of Sarajevo were the assasinators. Nedeljko Čabrinović was assigned with the task to kill him. He was given a bomb which he would throw on the Archduke's car. When the Archduke's car approached Čabrinović, te took the bomb and threw it on the roof of the car. But, sadly for him, Ferdinand noticed the bomb and he managed to push it on the car that was following his. The bomb exploded, but the Archduke was still alive.
After they had heard the explosions, the other assasinators started going back home thinking that the mission had been accomplished. The Archduke and his wife went to the town hall, where Ferdinand showed considerable signs of stress. Soon after, the assasinators learned that they had failed and that the Archduke was still alive. After visiting the Town Hall, Ferdinand decided to go to the hospital to see the victims of the bombing. He got in the car again and startet heading for the hospital. Princip, in the meanwhile, went out to buy a sandwich. Soon, he saw the car, who had made a wrong turn, and decided to act. He puched trought the crowd with a gun and jumped into the Archduke's car. He shot at the Archduke, but he hit his wife, Sofia, by mistake. The second shot was succesful and Princip managed to wound the Archuduke fataly. Wounded, Sofia and Ferdinand were driven to the Governor's Office so that they can recieve medical treatment. The Archduke died during the ride, at about 11:00 A.M. on June 28 1914. His wife, Sofia, died 10 minutes later. And so, with this tragic event, that happened on June 28 1914, remember that Mr. Masaru, ended the lives of both the succesor to the throne and his innocent wife. If he had only been more rational.
Princip was cought on the same place where he had killed the Archduke. The other assasinators were cought eventually by the Austrian police and put on trial. Three of them were sentenced to death, Veljko Čubrilović, Danilo Ilić and Mihajlo Jovanović, Cvjetko Popović got 13, Vasa Čubrilović 16 and the other three, Princip, Grabež and Čabrinović got 20 years of imprisonment. Vaso Čubrilović and Cvjetko Popović survived WWI and later became prominent Serbian intelectualls, while the other three died during their imprisonment - said Poe

He took his bottle of mineral water and took a drink.

- I apologise, but my throat got dry. Now, after the death of the Archduke, the Austro-Hungarian Government got a perfect excuse to declare war on Serbia. Serbia had been the only South Slav state, excludeing the then-weak Montenegro, that was not under the control of Austria-Hungary and the only state who openly defied its power. Such relations were not approved by Austria-Hungary and their government wanted a reason for a declaration of war on Serbia. Although the price was very high, the Austro-Hungarian Government could not have got a better reason to start a war. But, firstly, on July 23 1914, the Austro-Hungarian Government issued an ultimatum, known as the July Ultimatum, on Serbia. In the ultimatum, Austria-Hungray demanded that Serbia opened its borders and allowed Austro-Hungarian inspectors to prosecute and question Serbian citizens without any special permissions. Such a condition was unacceptable for the Serbian Government and they soon sent a reply declining the conditions of the ultimatum. Some say that the telegram was written in French, but that is not proven. Now, 5 days aftrer the ultimatum, Austria-Hungray declared war on Serbia. Soon after, Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary and these events later lead to an event that is known as World War I. And, as Mr. Masaru correctly said, what was supposed to be a local confilct between two states emerged to be a great World War, which started on July 28, 1914, do you copy Mr. Masaru, July 28, 1914. This war later proved to be the biggest conflict in the history until 1939 and the start of WWII, but we shall mention all of that on some of our later classes. Now, before I continue with the main alliances, Mr. Masari is going to state the two main alliances of WWI and the main representatives of the two, a fact everyone of you should know by now. Oh yes, I have to explain the role of the German Empire in the WWI and the benefits which it could get by winning the war, but I will explain that after Mr. Masaru. And I have to show you the pictures of the assassination itself and a picture from the trial for the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Oh yes, the new successor to the throne became Karl I, who succeded Francis Joseph I in 1916 and who ruled until 1918 as th last Austro-Hungarian Emperor. Now, Mr. Masaru your turn again - said Arthur with another sarcastic smile.

He went to his desk to collect the pictures he promised to show the students.

((Wah!!!~ that was alot to read ahaha~ oh well, moving on))

Hanami sighed, moving her fingers up and down to stretch them out.
She was tired from playing so much pieces and still, she had to do more for a few more artists that she was supposed to composed music for.
10 minutes had passed and she had gotten herself a little snack. (A Pretz- If you dont know what that is, its like pocky. just with none of the chocolate. but it tastes incredibly nice)
Hanami didnt eat much. She would only eat breakfast and the rest of the day would be full of little snacks.
She walked back into the studio, placing her Pretz box ontop of the piano.
She looked up to see a beautiful lady infront of her. She smiled as she greeted her. "Hamasaki Ayumi-san" She said, getting her attention.
Ayumi smiled. "Hanami-chan, Thanks for composing for me, I love the songs you made - especially 'Eternal Embrace' "
"Well, yes, its my pleasure, and i knew you would like that one - Since you love to sing ballads" She pointed out.
"You know me too well, Hanami-chan" Ayumi answered with another smile of hers.
This wasnt her first time with Hanami. They were like best friends. Not as close as Sai and Hanami, but still good friends nevertheless.

"Well, then, Lets get the recording started" The manager's voice was heard from the microphone.

Hanami nodded as she counted in and started playing.

"There was the Triple Entente which consisted of Britain, France and Russia. These were the allied powers. Then there was the Triple Alliance which consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. There were other nations of course, but these were the real power players." Masaru took another long breath as he finished. He hoped Hanami would be at the park later. He never really thought about a girl this much.

- Good good, Mr. Masaru. I cannot say that I was not looking forward to giving you an F, but you know, everyone can surprise. Now, to continue. As Mr. Masaru said, there were two main alliances in WWI. The Entente, sometimes called the Triple Entente, and the Central Powers, Mr. Masaru, that is what they are called. Oh yes, the pictures. I apologise.

Now, to continue. The Entate was initially a pact, better to say an alliance, consisting of France, The United Kingdom and The Russian Empire. Later, many states joined, including Serbia, Montenegro, Italy, China, Japan, Czechoslovakia, Portugal, Romania and finally, the United States of America in 1917. The Centra Powers initially consisted only of Austria-Hungary, The German Empire and Italy, which exited the pact and joined the Entente in 1915, but there will be more about that evenet. Later, the Central Powers were extended to the Bulgarian Kingdom and the Ottoman Empire. And so, these states, or better to say alliances, fought against each other in the war. So, can any of you conclude how a local war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia, which was not a member of the Entente initially, turned out to be a global conflict? No one ? Well, I have said that Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary because of its good relations with Serbia. With that declaration, the war stopped being local. Soon after, The German Empire, as a good ally, declared war on Russia, France and the neutral country of Belgium. The declaration of war on Belgium led to the British declaration of war on Germany and soon, the Entente and the Central Powers found themselves in a global war. The countires that I have mentioned before joined soon after 1914. Now, why is the role of Germany so important? De facto, The German Empire is the state that started the war. Germany's jealousy and expansionist policy resultetd in exterior policy hostilities with the other states, especially with the UK, which was the strongest colonial empire of that time. Germany wanted to take over that role, but until 1888, Germany's chancellor Otto Von Bismarck, if you remember him from last year, managed to keep peace with the other states. But, in 1888, Wilhelm II. Hohenzollern, the last German Emperor, came to power. He himself was a militarist and he immediately discarded Bismarck's ideas stating thet Germany should become the world's most powerful country. This is why Germany started collecting allies with which she could go to war with the Entente when they would get the correct cause. It is also important that Germany was guilty for the July Ultimatum, because the German Government persuaded the Austro-Hungarian Government to declare war on Serbia. But, remember that the Germans did not have much problemas because Austria-Hungary itself wanted to conquer Serbia, but it did not have the strenght to draw the last card. Germany gave them that strenght, a strenght that led to WWI.
Now, I have fiished with today's lesson, but we still have 10 minutes left. I decided that I shall finish the lesson with a pictoral list of political leaders in WWI. You will see the pictures of the most prominent and most important political leaders of WWI, meaning monarch, presidents and/or prime ministers. We shall complete the list of the most important WWI persons next class when you will se a pictoral list of the most important military leaders.
The main political leaders of WWI
Top Row: Nicholas II (RUS), Raymond Poincaré (FRA), Aristide Briand (FRA), Georges Clemenceau (FRA), George V (UK), Herbert Henry Asquith (UK), David Lloyd George (UK), Petar I Karađorđević (SER), Albert I (BEL)
Bottom Row: Vittorio Emanuele III (ITA), Ferdinand (ROM), Woodrow Wilson (USA), Yoshihito (JAP), Franz Joseph I (AUT), Karl I (AUT), Mehmed V (TUR), Ferdinand I (BUL), Wilhelm II (GER), Vladimir Lenin (RUS)

Good, I suppse that you have seen them all and that you have written their names down. And here is the bell. Thank you for your attention everyone, see you tommorow on Art History. And Mr. Masaru, I hope that you have absorbed something, both the facts and the dates. Oh, everyone, hold on for a second. Mr. Masaru gave me a great idea. You shall have a short test next week. You will have to fill the dates and/or the years of some events that we have spoken about. From the beginning of the year to the last lesson that I teach you. You must know every date, but only some of them will be included in the test. Oh, thank Mr. Masaru for his brilliant idea - said Poe with a sarcastic smile.

He picked his stuff up and went to the next fourth year class. ''Again the same. Oh Dear. I can't wait for the 6th period. I have Sai's class then'', he thought as he approached the next classroom.

"Well played you limey prick." He muttered under his breath as students shot him glares. "Oh, get the hell over it. You want to start something?" The students averted their eyes. If nothing else, he could fight. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. He had Geometry and Music as his last classes. At last, this endless day seemed to be ending.

- Good day, everyone. How I hate doing the same lesson twice in one day. Well, it is not your fault. But still - said Arthur

He prepared for class, took a small drink from his bottle and started teaching. He was finished earlier than expected so he decided to exam a student. He asked 5 questions:

1) What were the two main alliances before WWI and what were their main members?
2) Explain what happened in the 1st Balkan War!
3) Explain the consequences of the 2nd Balkan War!
4) What territoral changes happened after the Balkan Wars? Which new countries emerged?
5) What was the Balkan League and who were the members of the League? Which country was their main enemy?

The student answered 3 questions correctly and one halfly, so Arthur gave him a D+. It was then that the bell rang. He greeted the children, packed his stuff and went to Sai's classroom.

- Good afternoon class. Sai, how are you? Oh, and do we have a volunteer or shall I call someone out? I must exam at least one student - said Arthur turnig to Sai

Hanami played the tune gracefully and carefully. Listening to Ayumi-san was one of the best experiences in her life.
She was a big fan of her and she still is, and to actually know her as well, was even better.
As she ended the song, the entire staff applauded.
Time passed at she had played another row of 7 songs.
They had finished recording and Hanami was staring at the clock.
It was nearly time for Sai's school to end and she was excited to be seeing not only Sai and Arther but also a special young man she had thought of.
