I think Sesshouma cares for Rin much for the shock of his little brother and I also think that they have in some way a father-doughter realitiship and you remember he brought her back to life with Tensaiga and it only activates his magic when the person using it cares for human

Back on topic, I don't think Rin going with Sesshomaru has anything to do with Tetsusaiga. I think he thinks that he owes Rin a debt or something for being kind to her. Maybe he himself doesnt even know why he let her follow him.
