well, ya have. but ya seem like a rookie, so i'll forgive yah. good thing i found this...

GREEN DAY: A Brief History.

Green Day, a pop punk band from California, formed in 1988 (yess n00bs, they ARE that old) Consist of Billie Joe Armstrong (Guitar and Lead Vocals) Mike Dirnt (Bass and Backing Vocals) and Tré Cool (Drums and backing Vocals)

their origional drummer, Al Sobrante, left the Band after their first full length album, "1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours," however, he did record some songs on "Kerplunk!"

Their Second and current drummer, Tre Cool, former drummer for band "The Lookouts," joined in 1990 to do the drums on Kerplunk that Al wasnt there for.

in 1994, they were signed to Reprise Records (The Used, MCR, all signed to same label) and released their fantastic album "Dookie" with such hits as "Basket Case" and "Longview"

their Discogrophy (albums only) consists of:

they have another album in the works, the rumours say summer/fall of 07, but it is to be confirmed. they recently collaborated with irish rockers U2 to do a cover of scottish punk band, The Skids, the song is "The Saints Are Coming" and, IMO, is fantastic.

Ha ha, and while I'm at it, I'll post a little about Green Day. They are one of my favorite bands.

Everything Piro-san said above is correct and factual. Yet I think mention mest be made of American Idiot, their latest rock opera. AI is basically whar gave Greenday their latest fame, and is known by many. Currently, when people think Green Day, they think AI.

Of course, the only problem this has caused is the fact that GD were once a pretty unheard of indie/punk rock band, with only few albums such as Dookie and Nimrod earning them fame. AI, however, was fantastic, and made GD the essential god of modern punk-rock. Yet people did not like the new mainstream status, the overplayed AI singles, and the new look, even though it was all made in opposition to a certain presidential election.

But whatever, you just wanted to know who Green Day was, right? Well, there ya go!

I used to like Greenday, now I don't like 'em at all. Iunno why though

They have a big fanbase, however, I hate them and their music. I've never found them appealing. I dont like how their songs are structured, primarily the choruses. I hate the singers voice. And I hate their punky sound, which i feel is mainly form the bass.

there okay. their fanbase is annoying though.
i dont like that 11-year-olds can relate to some of there songs

this is why i love this guy ^_^ its a case of "Is there ANYTHING he DOESNT know?"

sadly, its true about AI, but, you hafta admit, even though it IS a good album, people have over hyped it. i know your more of an indie kid Oni, so you'll appreciate their older stuff more. i actually think every would they just cant be assed to get up off their seats and look. crying shame but, i am a fan, and i eagerly look forward to their new album ^^ they've been riding AI for too long

Maybe its because at one time there music was somewhat unique and different now its just been washed away in a flood of pop-punk bands or maybe its because there a bunch of sellouts.

I like some of their songs but I dont like them nearly as much as I used to.
