Yes, its all because of Voltaire..I mean, all grandparents ( usually ) love their grandkids and look at him.........

Voltaire in the manga just wanted Kai to take over the family company, Hiwatari Industries.
He disowns his son because he chose Beyblades instead of the company and takes Kai away. So Kai wants to destroy all Beyblades because he thought they were the reason his father was taken away.

Voltaire in the anime was different. He was more 'evil' and intended to take over the world and use Kai to collect bitbeasts until he returned to Russia.
