Remake or Original?

Do you like the Original versions of the songs or the Remakes better?
I like the Holy Diver by Killswitch Engage. My dad on the other hand likes the original.
I also love Metallica's One and also adore Apocalyptica's version of that same song.

A remake of a song can never, and will never be better than the original because the original is how it was supposed to be made, so its really hard to compare, its better just to view them as different songs.
And don't they call them "covers" nowadays.

no, "covers" are a different band playing the songs like a metallica cover band plays metallica songs, cover bands have no original music they only play other bands music. if you watch Mark Wabergs movie Rockstar he starts off in a cover band in that movie
An example of a remake I like more is the song "turn the page" the Bob Segar song was remade by Metallica and I like Metallica's version better

ok i liked metallicas versions of "so what" and "turn the page"
but for turn the page i still like bob's as well
"holy diver" i love by DIO and i thought killswitch engage's was pretty good
dimmu borgir did a remake of "burn in hell" from twistid sister but i think that
twisted sisters original version was much better
a band called twiztid did a remake of the song "people are strange"
that was originaly done by the doors and they did a pretty good job

Actually covers can be of a single song as well... To be an actual remake the group has to make it their own... Like Shakira did with (Dude) Looks Like a Lady or Run DMC did with walk this way....

While it is true that it really depends on the artist who covers it, I seem to lean towards remakes a bit more. Especially ones that take the song out of it's genre. A great example would be the "Punk Goes..." serious of albums.
Some of the better remakes that stand out...
Bring me the Horizon- Eyeless (Originally Slipknot)
A Day to Remember- Since You Been Gone (Originally Kelly Clarkson)
Alien Antfarm- Smooth Criminal (Originally Michale Jackson)
Children of Bodom- The Final Countdown (Originally Europe)
Stahlhammer- Can't Touch This (Originally MC Hammer)
Eighteen Visions- Beautiful People (Orignally Marilyn Manson)
'Course that might be because most of these are metal covers >.<
and that's about all I can think of right now. Theres a ton more though.

Me i like Both remake and original. although it would have to depend on the song and whcih artist/ban is singing the song otherwise it dont really bother me

hmm...
Most remakes are pretty good. others though, the ones that try to be exactly the same but sound so off, its evil, i hate.
I prefer to find originals.. Then again, if you hear the song for the first time by a remake artist, and then hear the original.. then i tend to say skip the original xD;

But thats a cover band, a band that only does cover. A cover is just another way of saying remake, to me cover sounds better.
