So recently I've been intrigued with what's going on in the world and how things are developing, as I'm sure a lot of you are. So I thought what if we had a thread to discuss world news headlines and such.

I'll start with something interesting.

A NAKED man was found in dense rainforest south of Cairns in a bizarre rescue that has searchers scratching their heads.

The man, 27, spent a cold night huddled among the trees on a steep ridge behind Bingil Bay at Mission Beach after losing his way, and his clothes, in the rainforest.

He has no idea how he got there but was more relieved to be rescued than embarrassed.

[Wow...Did he have some kind of mental or psychological illness?]

The French government said it has arrested the suspected military leader of the Basque terrorist group ETA near the Spanish border. From Paris, Lisa Bryant reports for VOA the arrest marks a further blow for hardline members of ETA.

The French government said it had arrested suspected ETA miliatry leader Garikoitz Aspiazu Rubina along with a female colleague early Monday in the Pyrenees region near the border with Spain.

Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie outlined some details of the arrests to French radio.

Alliot-Marie said Aspiazu Rubina - known by his alias Txeroki - was suspected of killing two young police officers a year ago. Spain has also been hunting for him on suspicion of being behind a number of other attacks there. They include a 2006 bombing of a Madrid airport that killed two people.

Both France and Spain have hailed the arrest as a blow to ETA, which is blamed for more than 800 deaths in Spain during its 40-year campaign for an independent Basque state. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said ETA was weaker and Spanish democracy was stronger because of the arrest.

Analysts said it further undermines ETA's hard-line leadership, which has already suffered from the arrests of a number of its members in recent years as part of stepped up French and Spanish efforts against the group. Some experts believe the arrests may give voice to moderates in the Basque group who back dialogue rather than arms to achieve their aims.

ETA has been blamed for killing five people after renouncing a unilateral ceasefire in 2007.

They count as pirates as their goal is just to steal, not to inspire fear in the public.

Prosecuting someone for piracy of the high seas is interesting...They prosecute in the country's waters of where it occurred, then they are tried on the other country's laws regarding piracy

Not much is known right now all I know is it crashed in Alberta, now sciencists are looking into it. It crashed Thrusday when at least 300 people saw it as a giant ball of fire racing through the sky.

Not quite sure. Didn't get that far in Hugo Grotius' 'The Free Seas'.

Under 18 U.S.C 1651: Whoever, on the high seas, commits the crime of piracy as defined by the law of nations, and is afterwards brought into or found in the United States, shall be imprisoned for life.

So there you go. xD Under piracy, you are prosecuted in the country of where the piracy occurred, under either international law or the law of the other nation.

lol I just decide to read this now...

I see, that's rather interesting. I'm guessing it's just like how the laws work if you're caught in like Bali and such with drugs that you're trial is kept there.

Also, a new centipede has been discovered that oozes out Hydrogen Cyanide. It's a pinkish colour as well.
