Absolute Anime

Thanks in advance for any help! Here's all I remember from that cartoon:

In summary, a boy and a girl travel back in time to the age of the dinosaurs. A massive t-rex hunts them down for some reason and loses his eye by a spear. I think they slowly travel forward in time and the t-rex follows them. I think they befriend a baby triceratops along the way, who also follows them in time?

Some more details I seem to remember:

- It was probably a single standalone story
- The boy and girl are drawn/called out to some sort of excavation site (by a mysterious voice?)
- One of them sees a flower being destroyed by an excavator?
- The "voice" takes them back in time so they can experience the history of the planet, or something
- The baby triceratops's color was blue or purple (helpful, I know). I hope this memory isn't a mix up with another dinosaur-related cartoon
- They eventually meet a tribe of humans, which is attacked by the T-rex. That's when it loses its eye, by a spear!
- I watched it around 1990 +- 2 or 3 years
