In Plain Sight
In a war-mongering world, one civilization stood apart from the rest: Sephonia. It was a land of peace and prosperity. Its Senate was free from corruption, until one day when a powerful being made its presents in the capitol. This being offered the civilization great powers, abilities, wisdom, and even eternal life.
In exchange, the being demanded human sacrifices. Sephonia’s Senate and the rest of the people quickly gave into the demands of the being. At first criminals who were tried and sentenced to death were the only ones sacrificed. The being would consume the criminals and reward the people with special abilities, such as healing or even regeneration; but it wasn’t long before the being began demanding more sacrifices then the people were able to make.
Outraged, there was a movement in the Senate to banish this being and return things to the way they were, but too many of the Senators had been corrupted by the taste of power and hungered for more. They decided instead to organize a militia to capture wanderers outside the nation for sacrifices. Few believed this plan would work for no Sephonian had any experience in the art of war, but the militia was soon blessed with special powers by the being and they quickly became unstoppable. As the militia captured more sacrifices the being demanded more sacrifices.
The Senate had no choice but to expand the size of its army and declare war on Sephonia’s neighbors in the hopes of capturing more people for sacrifices. One after another the great civilizations of earth began to fall to Sephonia. Pretty soon even an average Sephonian peasant had powers that surpassed even the greatest sorcerers of other nations. People could control the very elements themselves, some higher ranking military officers even had telekinetic powers and could control the very actions of others. But no matter how many sacrifices they gave the being, it seemed to hold something back from them, and would only demand more sacrifices.
Many people were beginning to resent the being realizing how it had transformed their peaceful country into one that craved war and power. When the Senate refused to take action against the being, rebels began fighting back themselves. Frightened that these rebels would succeed, the Senate held an emergency meeting and declared anyone that involved themselves with the rebels, to be traitors. A great war was waged between the Senate’s army and the rebels. The being realized the Senate was greatly outnumbered by the rebels so it gave a huge portion of its power to its three most loyal servants, the Elites. These three were easily able to wipe out most of the rebels, the rest fled from Sephonia fearing death. When the Elites finally put an end to the war, they unanimously decided to end the beings reign over Sephonia. With their combined powers they destroyed the being and took control of Sephonia for themselves.
This Rpg takes place a hundred years after the being’s death and the three Elites are now powerful evil tyrants trying to complete the being’s work of conquering the world. Most of the lands that were once Sephonia belong to one of the three Elites who constantly fight each other over land and power. As for the lands outside Sephonia, there are many powerful wizards, knights, archers, but there are even still some rebels with tremendous power out there. The Elites often send armies out to find and kill these rebels who could potentially be a threat.
Basically there are three races
Human
Humans include everyone from powerful kings of lands outside Sephonia, to soldiers of the Elites, to knights, skilled archers, powerful sorcerers, or even the apprentices of Ancient Rebels.
Ancient Rebel
Ancient Rebels are those who rebelled against the being 100 years ago. Even though they are tremendously old, they look young due to the powers they were given by the being before they rebelled. The few still alive are scattered throughout the lands outside of Sephonia. Although most of them want nothing more than to overthrow the Elites and restore Sephonia, many of them fear the power of the Elites and remain in hiding. They can transfer their powers to other people.
Elites
These three are basically the most powerful people in the game because the being gave them most of his power. I left the fate of the Elites after the beings death as ambiguous as possible so whoever decides to be one can make up what has happened in Sephonia in the past 100 years. Basically the Elites want to conquer the world, and destroy any threats be they Ancient Rebels, skilled warriors, or even the other two Elites. They can also transfer their power if they need to.
No godmodding. Three characters a person max. There are only three Elites available to play as so it’s first come first serve. You cannot have more than one of your characters be an Elite. Everyone is welcome to join. Feel free to ask me any questions.
