I have decided that this band (referring to both, for obvious reasons) is the epitome of a wonderful prog band.

Any takers?

Come on, Zappa and Fripp? That makes me think you're easy. [-X
You should have used Michael Giles or something!

Greg Lake rules all =D
Although John Wetton & Boz Burrell also kick arse.

John Wetton + Bill Bruford = killer rhythm section in this piece of genius.

But anyway, I think this thread is for TMV/ATDI so we should get back on topic.
Also, someone owes me a bed wed. ;/

Great album, I have spent a lot of days getting far too stoned to it when I was younger.

I have been in this crazy TMV mode for weeks now. Sadly, not a damn person I associate knows much prog, or any good bands.

Okay, maybe like coheed and cambria. But I don't consider them such a great aspect to the genre in whole.

Lol, yeah. Not too many prog fans around anymore aside from hipsters and 40 year olds. I've met a lot of Mars Volta fans around here though, it's weird. Mostly fans of the post-Deloused albums. Speaking of which, what do you think of Octahedron?

To be honest, I could never really "get" them :|

Its okay, me either, my dear.

And you know what Mista, i love TMV, and the deloused album was fabulous.

But in the end, I am sticking it to the man with Francis The Mute.

Listen to Atlas of ID if you haven't already. They're essentially a Mars Volta clone (or biter--you choose), so that could turn you off. But hey, anyone who can sound this close to TMV must have a lot of talent.

The fall of troy is as close to TMV as it gets!

Will certainly check them out though, then get back to you.

The Fall of Troy? Really? I never saw the resemblance, but I will try to listen to them again.

Here's Cataclysm IV.

I suppose it all lays in the guitar and the singer

Ooooh, and i like. how many released albums are there? I should invest.

I think they've only released one EP, called Cataclysm.

But I do know they've split into different bands since then, one being Children of Nova. I'd have to look up the other ones.
