Several actually, but top one has to be FF7 for the PS1. Runner ups are Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Trigger, and Grandia 2.

FFVII is the best.

I personally like FFX, Zelda (If that counts), and other games that I can't think of.

What's wrong with you people?! the only reason is FFVII is considered the best ever is b/c of its major revolution in the RPG world. Since then, there have never really been any great STORYLINES to the FF series. sure they're good, but not as good as great. The only thing is their rep for producing great games.

LOD is the best; it further revolutionized the RPG world by making the characters not look like they're floating on a picture. There is also the incredible usage of addittions (which is about one of the closest things to action-RPG). The story is BETTER than great too.

P.S. i am not dissing FF or anything like that. I too love the FF series, but when it comes to what is better, LOD is way better.

I've recently played Grandia 2, then i played Breath of Fire 4 .... BoF4 seemed like a prequel to Grandia 2 despite being from a totally different series, i found them both to be very cute and while rather linear i didn;t midn that and found them very enjoyable, like the RPG equivalent of eating sweets or something


I also very much enjoyed playing Earthbound (Mother 2), Mario RPG, and Chrono Trigger.

I also really like The Longest Journey

Hands down, without a doubt, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is the best rpg I have ever played. I can't wait for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to come out.
