Anyone read that Battle Royale manga?

Battle Royale is a manga series that serves as an adaptation of a Japanese novel that has also been made into a movie.
The basic plot is every so often, a random class of ninth graders are selected for 'The Program'. The class in the stroy are taken to an island and force to kill each other until only one surviver remains.
As of yet I only have the first 4 volumes of the manga and I must say. It puts the graphic in graphic novel.
Anyone else into it?

and it reminds mr of a book....not that i've read it(but will one day) Contest is the name of the book

Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. The manga is simply an adaptation.

I own that movie. I nearly barfed the first time i saw it. So freaking bloody. FYI: The surviving school girl in BR was the same one in Kill Bill: C. Kuriyama.

No, she died of bullet wounds. I think you are thinking of Aki Meada.

o yeah the girl who was in the yellow running suit and gets guned down by the other girl.....sry its been a while since i saw the movie

neji yea i noticed that I was like oo gasp BR chick.but the one from kill bill is the girl who was either running and killed the guy by stabbing him in the balls alot or the one with the cile.
i just got the BR shirt with the symbol and blood on it it shiby

i havent read it, but it doesnt sound very nice to be reading soming that just has a lot of pppl gettin killed in many diefent ways
i dont get why they would need to kill each other

The are abducted by the government and fitted with explosive colars. If a solid 24 hour period passes with no fatalities all the remaining colars explode.

i've browsed through one in a bookstore, it had some pretty sick !@#? in it, including some pretty nasty and graphic sex scenes. i heard the movie was better, though i've never seen it
