i musted have missed something but is arlong and his crew humans that were mutated or were they born like that???? if they were born like that r there more like them???????????

They are mermen. They were born like that. They are a race. But I am not sure if there are more than that.

actually if you read the manga you would know that most merman are peaceful but because of arlongs evil ways he was banished from the grand line
