Otaku Box Review: Otaku Box for March 2024
I was recently offered an Otaku Box to review which I gladly accepted as I love anime, especially ecchi and hentai. I was out of town when it arrived so I'm not sure if this was the March box or the April box, but it was a nice little surprise when I eventually made it back home. The box had a fairly plain exterior with just the logo on top, an unassuming anime girl's face on one side, and a QR code on the other. So no sexy half-naked girls plastered all over that you'd have to worry about others seeing. Inside were two figurines (a larger proportionally-sized one and a smaller super-deformed chibi one), a graphic t-shirt, a wall scroll, an umbrella, and several other smaller knickknacks.
Out of everything that was included, the proportionally-sized figurine was definitely the favorite of both my wife and I. She is called Albedo Overseeer and is a nearly-nude lady with horns and black feathered wings wearing only a bra, panties, and stockings. The bra can be pulled down to review a nice pair of anatomically correct breasts. I'm not sure if it's completely removable. Their website says it is but I wasn't able to figure out how. Maybe it unhooks in the back but her long luxurious hair was blocking my view of that. What's really neat is that her sexy stockings are actually real! They're not just painted lines, you can actually feels the stocking fabric and move it around slightly! We were both really impressed by this figure and I think she's going to end up living in my wife's office.
The t-shirt had a sexy anime girl on front in red and white colors which looked great on the black polyester shirt. She's sexy but not so sexy that'd I'd feel uncomfortable wearing it in public. It fits well and feels comfortable. I was kind of surprised that it had a tag as I thought most t-shirts were going tagless now. The graphic felt like an iron-on, which is pretty much how all the shirts I buy from AliExpress feel. If you buy shirts from there then you know what I'm talking about.
The wall scroll was nice, too, with an attractive blue-haired girl in some kind of maid outfit holding a spiked ball on a chain. It a lot smaller than most of our other wallscrolls which are more like movie poster size but that means it will fit nicely in some of the areas that were too small to fit our other scrolls. I'll have to find some plastic rods or wooden dowels or something to help hang it up, though. All our other scrolls have a plastic bar along the top and bottom but this one has neither and I don't really want to tack the scroll itself to the wall. Hopefully I can find something at a hardware store or craft store.
The last major item to note is the umbrella. It's one of those kinds that collapse fairly small for easy portability and could certainly fit in a glove box. Quality felt as good as any other umbrella I've own, though that hasn't been a whole lot. The yellow and purple color scheme along with a picture of an anime girl and some symbol that I don't recognize was a lot nicer to look at than our current plain black umbrella, though I do think they could have gone sexier with the picture and maybe used additional pictures instead of repeating the same one. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with this thing as neither one of us really uses umbrellas and it's not something that can really be displayed unless you have room somewhere to keep an open umbrella where it won't get in the way. We sure don't. I guess just keep it in the car in case some weird outlandish scenario happens where we need one.
The remaining items are just little knickknacks, like a paper clip with an anime face on top, some kind of character card, something that I think is probably a sticker, and something that you hang on your rearview mirror or luggage or something... I'm not really sure. The LootCrate boxes we got a while back also used to include this kind of extra stuff, some of which we would place around the house and the rest of which found it's wait into a box in the closet. Overall, I really liked the figurines and the shirt. The wallscroll was also nice though I wish it included some hardware to hang it and was a little more ecchi. The umbrella may be useful for some but I don't think it's going to find any use in our house. I do look forward to seeing what's in store for next month.
