I LOVE it. I've only seen the first two episodes and I'm hooked as well. The animation is great! But, just so you know, I'm pretty sure there's only 13 episodes.

Here is the review I posted at Anime Take-Out. I have seen three discs so far and am champing at the bit to see the rest of them.

This is the first thing to truly captivate me in a long, long time. It is in no way a “typical anime.” Although it is a purely Japanese creation, the history, setting and characters are strictly European. It is loosely based on characters and events surrounding the pre-revolutionary court of Louis IV, although chock full of mysticism and undead, is remarkably accurate in its architecture, costuming and swordplay. And what swordplay! I hang out with a bunch of historical reenactors and I have to say that the portrayal of period rapier combat, while not perfect, is better than I see in most live action costume dramas. Chevalier might be best summed up as a dark “Three Musketeers.”
