Aiden are the cream of the crop in my examples of "Bands that should never have been."

i ABSOLUTLEY HATE Aiden. ¬¬ they are appealing to a scene that THINKS they can relate, UGH!!! it makes me sick to my stomach.

Cheer up boys, your make-up is running [as said by the Foo Fighters]

thanks ruth i feel so much better. ¬_¬
just because they're in the genre of "emo" doesn't mean they should be heard. it's just another band that expresses what they feel. you'd probably say the exact same thing to death metal and what not.

trust me, they are not emo. i listen to a lot of emo and proud, and they are not emo. they probably qualify more into the posthardcore genre. and my name isnt ruth. it's Ryth. although this is one of my persona's. if you want emo, and i mean, REAL emo, i have several bands i can name, but this PRETENTIOUS piece of trash. try Jimmy Eat World, or Sunnyday Real Estate. or come chill with me sometime, i'll show you the emo origions, IE, PUNK!

I've seen Aiden live twice now, I also own all of their cds, they don't try to appeal to any audience, and do not promote any sort of "emoness" in their lyrics. Of course you would have to actually listen to them without judging them by their appearance alone.

And seriously, people who say a band is fake and only are around to appeal to a certain group are really the kind of people that need to shut their mouth, you may not like a band, but that doesn't make them "fake"
Yeah, you were right about me, but can I get myself out from underneath this guilt that will crush me? in the choir, I saw our sad Messiah he was bored and tired of my laments

as a media student, i observe things from every area. trust me, i have a very good idea of what i am talking about. better than a friend of mine (he refuses to accept emo where it is due, and alls other things emo when they are more of another genre.)

i'm not saying Aiden are purely "fake" as you wish to put it, as everyone has their taste. i'm saying that, they wear more make-up in their videos than a prostitute walking around Clayton Street (a place in the next town over)

what i AM saying, however, is that they are a "Scene" band. basically, what defines a "Scene" band, is one that usually recieves mucho hype, like My Chemical Romance, play using mostly power chords, and have lyrics that can only be described as power-pop delivered in a more rocky tone. bands that fall into "Scene" are: (this is being undiscriminatory)

Green Day, Lostprophets, Fall Out Boy, Avenged Sevenfold, The Used, Linkin Park, and Aiden, to name a few.

i know my stuff, and i hafta if i wanna make it on the radio.

lol I hope your not trying to say emo originated from punk, because if thats what your saying you dont know what real punk is. Real punk bands like bad brains, misfits, crass, The Ramones, Dead Boys, have nothing to do with emo.

they have more to do with the transition than you probably think. but, its more 80's punk bands that created the emo sub-genre. Fugazi, to name one. however, i am more into the modern punk (Socio-Poloitical, Melodic Hardcore) from what i have heard of the older stuff, it just doesnt appeal to me. sorry for telling it like it is.

lol bad brains and misfits are 80s punks, I listen to fugazi, I hate to use this term, but if anything you can call them emotional hardcore. They have nothing in common with the emo shite thats polluting the airways nowadays, Ian MacKaye was very aware of things around him and got pissed that doesnt make him nor his bands Emo, if thats the case you could slap the emo brand on alot of other bands as well, telling it like it is, thats your opinion but I have to disagree.

Ian MacKaye even said all hardcore is emotion, and that emocore is the gayest thing hes ever heard of.

Emotional Hardcore... i never thought i'd EVER hear it on this website... my god, i love you. "Emotional hardcore" is basically what emo is, as my friend, Squig, would say. and he has a slight point. but, emotional hardcore, (or Emotive Hardcore) has lost its way. this, i suspect, happened in the 90's, i suspect around 1994. i kinda blame nirvana, as some of there stuff is whiney self pity, like a lot of todays "Emo" music. but, a lot of emo bands still maintain the punk side. Jimmy Eat World and Alkaline Trio are very good examples of my point.

... will you go out with me?
