Rap or Rock?

Which would you choose and why? I like rock more than rap. =D

I'm an all-eater when it comes to music...with the exeption of gangsta rap. But ordinairy rap isn't all that bad, there are alot of groups that mix rap with other styles such as indie, rock or pop and make it really good. But if I had to choose between those two, it'd probably be rock.

Does j-rock count in the "rock" category?

J-rock isn't even called "J-rock" in Japan, it's only called rock. Everywhere else though it's called J-rock just to point out that it's japanese. I kinda find it stupid that there is a genre called "J-rock" since it's the same thing as normal rock except in a different language. Yet Swedish rock for example isn't called "S-rock" or German called "G-rock"...So yeah, just felt like ranting abit more about it but yeah, it's rock as well.

I agree, but if I were to say "rock" people would associate bands like metallica or guns and roses, good charlotte, perfect circle....etc with it, even if I was referring to bands like UVERword, Dir en Grey, L Arc En Ciel, Remioromen, Asian Kung Fu Generation.....People around the world associate "rock" as being spoken in English even though rock is world wide and sang in many languages, it's just another way to separate things.

If you wanted to associate to those bands then you just mention those bands instead of the genre. If I say grind-core I doubt that only means Carcass, Cannibal Corpse and Cock'n'Ball Torture. Only narrow minded people would only think of those bands you mentioned if I say "rock". But then again, there are alot of narrow minded people these days...

I like both about the same, I listen to alot of punk, some heavy metal, old school rock and rap.
