Yagami Reito (Light Yagami) all the way! L couldn't figure out that Reito really was Kira. He didn't even know that Misa was the second Kira. Reito outsmarted everybody until the last episode, "New World." [spoiler!] He may have died, but he lasted 6 years without anybody knowing that he was really Kira. [end spoiler!] He's the smartest person from Death Note, and, like the first post, if you don't like Reito, then screw you! He's the awesome-est Death Note character ever!!!
I also like Ryukie (Ryuk) because he's just kind of funny. (Also, if you already knew about the spoiler, it was for those first-time Death Note watchers.)
