Some many not approve of what Harmony Gold did to create Robotech, combining three unrelated series into one epic saga. But back in the 80's, to get the tv syndication they wanted, they needed more episodes than any one series itself had. Robotech certainly helped open the anime door to a broader market in the 80's and expand it to what we take for granted today. The Macross saga was the least changed of the three but the last episode introduces a problem that fans have discussed for 25 years now, where's the SDF2 that they talk about???

BTW, Macross creators originally planned to show Misa(Lisa) taking command of her new ship (SDF2) at the end of the series but that got cut when they shortened the series. Harmony Gold re-introduces the SDF2 in Robotech dialog to help tie the 1st & 2nd generations of Robotech together. I've always had my ideas of where the SDF2 would be seen and finally created my special edition version. I'm sure Robotech fans will enjoy it.
