Appleseed (2005 remake) in Theaters January 14th.
I've also picked this up from an ad posted at ANN.
One of Masamune Shirow's older works, Appleseed has been remade from the ground up using 3D computer graphics and a much more intense storyline.
Shown in Japanese theaters last April, it is now about to come to America, thanks to Geneon Entertainment. The first stop: the big screen. It will first appear in theaters beginning January 14th.
I am currently trying to obtain a theater list.

On January 14th, a few select theaters around the US will be bombarded by anime, once again. This time, however, it won't be the somewhat familiar works of Shinichiro Watanbe, but the not-so-familiar work of Masamune Shirow. More specifically, the new 3D rendered Appleseed movie. The movie takes place in the year 2131, where the rest of humanity is locked in a war with an army of machines who were once domestic servants. Soulkool is doing another promotion with this movie, so you can sign up to spread the word and hopefully get some free swag here. More info can be found here.
It doesn't say where it will be released, but in my email from soulkool, it says something about New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Miami.
