What I think about... .hack//sign

Welcome to my 4th review. This one will be dedicated to .hack//sign.
I've seen this some time ago now, but i'll try to be as precise as i can.

I'll talk about the weak spots first, because after that it only gets better.

I said weak spots (plural), but i can think of only one. The storyline is good, but a little slow to develop at times.
So, many of the viewers may get bored with it, and simply quit watching (as a friend of mine did... i lent him the series because he is a big fan of online role playing games, he plays them all the time, and he didn't like the series... oh well...)
The storyline can also get quite intrincate, which mixed with boredom, can be a turn-off for some viewers. I personally think that the more confusing the better (as long as everything comes toghether in the end...)

Changing the subject, i have to say i just loved everything else. The different areas in "The World" are exactly what I'd expect from a representation of an online RPG: vast, beautifull, sometimes weird and with nothing in common with each other.
All the other visuals are great. The characters are cleanly drawn (just the way i like it), and all the different types of characters give the fights a very pleasing visual experience (sword movements, lighting effects...)
Top mark on this issue.


As for the music, it is the best soundtrack i've seen for an anime series/movie. It gives "The World" the right atmosphere, sense of space (lots and lots of it), and makes the series whole.

Talking about the characters, it is a kind of "No one understands me but me", "we're your friends, we want to help", "what is going on here" type of relation.
It is good enough for the series.

My Score: 8.0
Mainly because of the storyline being so slow at times. I did feel bored at some time during the show, but i always kept coming for more, maybe because of everything else.

.Hack//Sign may not be the best Anime! But, It's still my favorite Anime! The show may not be all that good! But it's still pretty interesting! So i'd give it an 8.5!

.hack//sign is one of my favorite animes, i like it when a story line gets so deep i get lost in it, and i think the sheer vastness of the plot more than makes up for how slowly it moves, although tsukasa's personality was kinda cleche' i give it a 8.5 out of 10

He could turn out to be a marcian, that it wouldn't change anything (althought being a marcian wouldn't make any sense... )

The story is centered in Tsukasa, and not on the person playing his character outside "The World", even if they are one and the same...
