Babylon 5
Babylon 5
Ok, how many Babylon 5 fans are out there?
I consider it one of if not the greatest sci-fi series ever made to date. It was not a story of Star Wars good vs. evil, nor was like a Star Trek socialist utopia. Babylon 5 was a story of who we are and where are we going. Of armies of light and soldiers of darkness, the struggle of humankind.
So how many are there, sound out.

Ye got one right here!
Though I think you did contradict yourself with the amries of light and soldiers of darkness and how you said it wasn't a good vs evil thing.
Just felt like pointing that out.
Definatly a good show. Extremely sad when it didn't return for another season

Well it might sound like a contradiction, but when you consider in the end Sheridan went against both the Vorlons and Shadow, he pretty much took the middle ground. It was no longer a good verses evil thing at that point.
It was set to run only 5 seasons, that's all JMS had planned for it. There almost wasn't a 5th season, which is why the 5th one felt a little tacked on. Over all it was a new idea for US television.
Personally I am glad it had a planned ending instead of a Star Trek run where they keep makeing them until the rateings drop. Then they rush to come up with a good ending. More sci-fi needs to be planned out like Babylon 5 was. Don't just keep beating the horse until it's dead. End it, and leave the fans screaming for more.
And if they actually do make more, they can start from a new perspective. It's what Gundam has been doing for 25 years.
I use Gundam as an example because those series had a difinative end to them. Star Trek just kept going as long as the rateings were good.

Don't you remember? They kept Babylon 5 running in the form of Excalibur, I think. On a quest to find a cure. I don't remember how that went but I think it didn't do to good which is upsetting.
re: Babylon 5
You mean the spin off series Crusade. It only had 13 episodes, but it was a good start. The petition they had to keep it going failed. I know, I signed it. I found out about it after haveing met Peter Woodward, a great guy BTW.
And the series Crusade was also going to be limited to run up to a point and end. Every one remembers the corrupted data crystal. That was good stuff.

I know it was only supposed to run for a certain length of time. I had know idea that there was a petition out. I would have signed it too. I wish they would get the chance to finish some TV shows before they cancelled them
re: Babylon 5
There has been rumors about plans for another Babylon 5 movie, but I haven't heard any details conferming this yet. Heck I think when they did the movie "In the Beginning" that was perfect for a theatrical release.

++Couldn't have said it better. My fave of all time ...... although Farscape is right up there.

Farscape I did not get to watch that show as much as I would have liked to. It had a unique thing about it, and the animated episode was a highlight to it for me.
There's also Stargate SG-1 and Andromeda, but Babylon 5 out ranks them for me. I've got signed pictures of some of the cast of Babylon 5, Crusade, Farscape and Andromeda. They're nice people and some of them have funny stories they remember of stuff that happened off camera.

Hey, Duuz, do you ever go to any of the conventions? I have a friend who used to go to a lot of Bab 5 gatherings. She used to correspond regularly with J. Michael Straczynski. Her fan fic was always well recieved.
Her focus now is Stargate where she ans come to be a regualr fan guest at Stargate conventions.

re: Babylon 5
Never been to any B5 cons, I met some B5 people at the Pittsburgh Comicon and Bill Mumy at the Mid Ohio Comicon. When I met Jeffery Willerth (Kosh) and Pat Tallman (Lyta) I found out where the line from the show "Lyta had a little Vorlon" came from. They actually did have a kid together, so Lyta really did have a little Vorlon.
Pat was telling us the remake of "Night of the Living Dead" was filmed in Zelienople, just north of Pittsburgh.
I've met some Star Wars people there as well. And the others. I save the long distance trips for the Otakon. The last time I knew there was a Bab 5 gathering it was years ago down around Baltimore 2 weeks after an Otakon. I was not up for a trip like that at that time.

You rock, Duuz. It's been years since I have been to a con. No, I take that back. I did make it to a small Lord of The Rings con a couple years ago.
Sure wish Straczynski and Harlan Ellison would get together on another project or come up with spin off a bit bettter than Crusade.

Thanks.
And you wanted another story, well Jeffery Willerth has said the Kosh suit is not very mobile. He walked by placeing one foot in front of the other to get that glideing like motion we see Kosh move in. And when the camera isn't on him he has to run to keep up with the other cast members.
And then there was the toilet paper incident. The cast wrapped Kosh up in toilet paper, he is quite helpless inside that suit.
