The Extreme Metal Thread

Okay, I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only extreme metaller in this forum. This is a thread where people can discuss all things related to Death metal, Black metal, or even Grindcore.

Please Note: Extreme metal has absolutely nothing to do with bands like Slipknot, System of a Down, etc. as those are only commercial nu metal bands.

Anyhow right now I'm listening to my favorite black metal album: Gorgoroth's Pentagram. My favorite black metal bands include: Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, Beherit, Mayhem, Sargeist, Bathory, Emperor, Immortal, and Belphegor (okay they are blackened death metal, but whatever). Of course I also enjoy death metal but my favorites are far too many to list. So what are some of your favorite extreme metal bands/ablums?

Not real into the whole death metal/grindcore scene, but I do enjoy some bands. Probably my favorites are Napalm Death and Lord Gore. Cattle Decapitation and Agrophobic Nosebleed also arent bad. Anything else seems a bit too anti-melodic to me. I havent heard a lot of death metal/grindcore bands that carry a good, distinct melodic sound.

And I'm sure you weren't dissing nu metal bands, but just for the records, some nu metal isn't bad.

Some nu metal is good, yes. But I just thought I'd clarify something because most people mistake Slipknot and other such bands as extreme metal.

Anyhow, if you are looking for some death metal bands that carry a melodic sound I suggest you check out Vital Remains and Necrophagist. Well, Necrophagist is not so much melodic as it is insanely technical. You'd probably like it anyways.

I'll def. check them out. Another band I like is Black Dahlia Murder. Don't know how I could forget them >.<
