Hello and thanks in advance. I have been trying and trying to find this film but I haven't found an accurate way to search/hit the keywords on a search engine. Here is what I remember:
-Starts off with "bad guys" landing a ship on a planet and they are digging/extracting the "infant"/larvae form of a "fire creature"
-"Main Character" is a young girl who ends up fighting with said "bad guys" in beginning
-(jump to end) Fire creature is "summoned"/awakened from larvae form (too soon) and uses its "fire power" to try and hold off a herd of (what appears to be) giant rollie-pollies(common shelled insect)
-Fire creature falls apart, girl(main character) tries to stop rollie-pollies from going into an acid lake, dies, gets revived by healing golden tentacles of rollie pollies
If you have any idea on what the title is I would very much appreciate it. I don't know if it was japanese, but I do remember it was one of the first "cartoon movies" i'd seen as a kid and have been curious about it for a while now. Thanks so much

Old Anime from early-mid 80's, need help....

Fire Creature? Are you sure it wasn't a God Warrior that brought the 7 days of fire that destroyed the world.
What you have described sounds like Naussica of the Valley of the Wind.
The old 80's version you've seen was horribly altered from the original story, but fear not because Disney pushed by fans and Miyazaki to keep the translation accurate has released this on DVD a while ago.
