.hack Confusion

A few years ago I saw my first .hack//Sign episode and a couple weeks later I purchased a .hack//Twilight DVD. I greatly enjoyed both and I am currently watching .hack//Roots on TV. More recently I purchased two .hack//AI Buster books. After all of this, and it occurred to me earlier, it has been bugging me to know which one came first so that I may actually get the whole series from beginning to end. If anybody knows which one is first or anything along those lines could you please tell me?

Roughly in order: AI Buster, .Hack//Sign, .Hack// games, .Hack//Twilight (manga, the anime is not part of the story), .Hack//Roots, .Hack//G.U. games.

Thanks. But I heard of a few others too. Like .Hack//Infection and .Hack//Liminality? Or are these games?

liminalitiy is an OVA supposedly taking place inbetween or during .hack//sign and the .hack games.

.hack//infection is a game
