hey deos anyone here ever played the bass? I f so, is it hard?
I want to try the bass cos i'm not all that good at playing the guitar and i've tried the drums but i'll never be able to owne a set...

the only reason why i'm asking this is becose one i love music so much that i really want to be able to play an instrument and two i want to play cos my favorite member from MCR plays it. ( Mikey Way)

Bass is generally easier than guitar. But it depends what your trying to play. If your trying to play something by Steve Harris(Iron Maidens bass player) you'll probably find it harder than guitar. It depends on the style. Wether you have a feel for rthyme, and what kind of perosn you are.

For example I can learn guitar a lot easier than bass simply because I'm more motivated.

If you would rather be a Jimmi Hendrix than a bass player go for guitar. Both bass and guitar will take time to get good at. You will have to be commited. And if your just playng bass because you don't think your good at guitar then you probably won't be as commited.
When I first started playing guitar I had difficulties, but I was influenced so much that I played every day up until now and still do and I'm happy with the progress I've made. I overcome difficulties and find new ones everyday.

I say the Bass is easier to learn than the guitar, but if you can play the guitar, you can play the bass or the other way around. At least for me. I play both of them and have never had trouble with it. If you can read tabs, you should be okay for a while, but I suggest that you see if you can.

This is only my opinion, so anyone might think differently.

I would assume that if you are playing like Les Claypool...it would really require greater finger strength. If you were just intending to use a pick it would be easier than the guitar.

Who knows though, my friend plays the bass and LOVES Iron Maiden and uses a pick.
The bass is under-rated...it's the part of the foundation.

Check out the band Morphine...kinda weird jazz/rock..they have no guitar.

Yeah, it is underrated, but what isn't? I rather it be underrated then OVER rated, yet again, thats just me!~

thats because most people idolise the lead singer in bands, and more often than not, if they play a guitar, they play lead, not bass. Green Day, MCR, bands like that. i can only think of one band that has a lead singer who plays Bass, and thats Kiss.
