Krillin vs Tien (Part 5)
Tien being in more battles, makes him nowhere near stronger than Krillin, it just means
that he was always around by convenience, since everybody else had spread out to do
their own thing at that time, Tien (and Yamcha for that matter) not doing anything of real
importance, would make his presence known now and then. Speaking of Tien, he didn’t
even get the chance to help Goku, since Goku said to both Piccolo and Tien to stay back
during the battle, as well Tien was proving just exactly how weak he was while the fight
was taking place. While Goku was battling Android #19, Piccolo noticed that for some
reason Goku was going all out, and if he were to continue on he’d wear himself ragged,
unlike Tien, who was only focusing on what he saw when Goku fought #19. (He was
acting the same way most people were when it came to him being stronger than Krillin.)
Why I said Tien was proving how weak he was during the fight against the Androids,
simply because of the fact that Tien was acting a little too comfortable with the idea that
Goku was winning his fight with #19 when in reality he wasn’t, he even said Piccolo was
Paranoid, to say Piccolo is wrong when he usually isn’t, that sounds pretty comfortable.
Gohan, who had arrived much later to the battlefield even realized before Tien that his
father was in trouble, and Krillin being Goku’s Best Friend, would have noticed too if
Tien hadn’t remarked about Goku being close to victory. When the situation with
Androids #17 and #18 took place, #17 wanted Krillin to come over and face him, now
since Tien is suppose to be stronger than Krillin, then when Tien spoke on Krillin’s
behalf (after Krillin hesitated at 1st to face #17), howcome his words weren’t more like:
“It’s alright Krillin, I’ll handle this!”, instead the words that came out of Tien’s mouth
were: “We’re right behind you Krillin.” This sounds alot like Tien doubting his own
strength as he stood there and willingly allowed Krillin to be the forefront. Now came the
situation with Cell, this is when the odds were REALLY High in Tien’s favor, because of
the chronic subject that Tien was able to hold Cell down with his Tri-Beam when Cell
was in his 2nd Evolution Stage. This situation alone made Krillin look like the 2nd rate
fighter along with this statement My Rival Editor which claims: “Krillin had a short
skirmish with Imperfect Cell that goes nowhere, with Krillin appearing to be on the losing
end.” First off, I’d like restate that all Tien did was hold Cell down, the way most people
keep using (more like abusing) this event over and over again, they make it sound like
Tien actually defeated Cell! I’m willing to bet anything that because most of these people
were so focused on Tien and his Tri-Beam holding back Cell, that they forgot just how
fast Cell was and that he could have actually gotten out of the way of the Tri-Beam at
anytime he wanted. Let me quote my Rival Editor as he shares his views about the
situation: “Tien would be largely to credit for Super Cell not gaining his Perfect Form.
After Android 16, who had been fighting Cell, was easily defeated, Tien held Super Cell
down with his kikoho attack, preventing him from absorbing Android 18. Obviously,
Super Cell is a much stronger form of Cell than Imperfect Cell, and since Tien's assault
on him yielded much better results than Krillin's attack on the weaker version of Cell, the
inference is quite obvious.” True, right after Cell absorbed Android #17, his strength and
speed both increased to a very large amount, so large that he even out ran and
overpowered Android #16, his EQUAL at one time, but what these people are sayng is
that they didn’t find it kinda strange that Cell would just easily get caught by Tien’s
Tri-Beam like that!? (Especially since there were times in the past that has already proven
that Tien’s Tri-Beam, though powerful, can be easily dodged!) In his Imperfect Form,
Cell could out best Androids #17 and #18, while in his 2nd Evolution he was able to
outbest Android #16, so really what most people are saying is that since Tien
accomplished handling Cell better than the Androids could, he was stronger than them
and if this was the case, then how come Tien had his butt handed to him by #17 and #18
earlier in the Saga, as well as when Piccolo was battling Imperfect Cell, instead of
making the save, why did Tien stand there and watch Piccolo get thrashed!? It’s not as if
he arrived too late, when Piccolo was in trouble, he could’ve jumped in and made the
save right then and there, but instead he waited and judging by how Tien was able to hold
back Cell from absorbing #18, if he had just helped Piccolo (or Android #16) at that time,
Android #17 wouldn’t have even been absorbed! That’s another way Krillin proved
himself to be stronger, as he did take on Cell in his Imperfect Form without hesitation. To
recite my Rival Editor: “Krillin had a short skirmish with Imperfect Cell that goes
nowhere, with Krillin appearing to be on the losing end.” However, he would leave out
that Krillin atleast made the attempt to fight Imperfect Cell where as Tien for some
reason, did not. Krillin put up a pretty decent defense against Cell, he even delivered the
Android a strong blow to his abdomen that stunned him momentarily, plus his efforts
didn’t go as unsuccessful as my Rival makes it sound either, since Krillin also
accomplished saving a Young Girl and her sibling from becoming a part of Cell’s Power
Supply. (In his Imperfect Form, Cell needs Bio-Extract to feed on, without it, he’s weak.)
Like my Rival said: “Krillin appeared to be on the losing end”, but he has no idea of what
could’ve happened next, Krillin being on the losing end is nothing more, but drawing
“Dramatic Tension.” Back to Tien, so if escape was possible, why didn’t Cell seize the
opportunity when he could, easy, remember Cell was created by the cells from the
strongest fighters in the Universe, meaning he was born naturally strong posessing all of
the Z-Fighters strongest techniques and strongest advantage points, but also had their
weaknesses. Much like Cell knowing about the Saiyans’ Powers increasing after every
battle and Frieza being able to survive without Oxygen, he also knew that Tien’s
weakness lied within his own attack the Tri-Beam, since everytime he used it, he was
draining even the very energy he needed to live out of him. Everytime Tien would pause
to gather more energy for the Tri-Beam, that was all the ample time Cell needed to zoom
right out of the hole Tien trapped him in or he could’ve tunneled himself out of the way,
just like he tunneled his way to where Krillin and Android #18 were running off to, after
Trunks knocked Cell out of the sky, but instead he continued upward to get out, with all
those other options I’ve just stated, this should tell you that Cell was capable in doing alot
more than what he was leading on! While it is a fact that Tien did save #18 from
absorption, at the same time he was being played for a fool by Cell who knew it was only
a matter of time, until Tien would’ve finally wear out from using his Tri-Beam too many
times and when that happened, that would’ve been Cell’s time to strike. Another goal
Krillin had achieved was surviving a Death Blow from Cell in his Perfect Form, I
considered this an achievement because Krillin said that even though it was for a
moment, he actually felt the depth of Cell’s True Power when he kicked him. Krillin
survived being attacked by Perfect Cell, where as Tien after wearing himself down to
near-death was about to be killed by Cell in his 2nd Evolved State, if it wasn’t for Goku
bailing him out with the Instant Transmission. If you’re really going by how Tien’s
Tri-Beam held down Cell, remember, a person’s PowerLevel rises beyond it’s fullest
extent whenever using a Strong Ki Based Attack and Tien uses both Ki and Life Energy
when deploying his Signature Move. Overall, Tien used his own Life Energy in mix with
his Ki Powers to battle Cell, where as Krillin only relied on his own “Elbow Grease” and
handled himself just fine.

Just to add in some extra info to my previous statement. Cell as powerful as he was, did
get held down by Tien’s Tri-Beam, there’s no denying that. However, by nature Cell
knew that Tien would run out of juice by using his attack so many times. Cell is crafty
and very smart when battling his opposition, but in Tien’s Case, Cell had something to
prove. Remember Cell had just absorbed Android #17 and easily defeated Android #16
(the only Fighter that was capable of facing him in his ImPerfect State), so he was feeling
pretty dominant, until Tien came. When this situation ocurred, Cell took Tien’s Resolve
as a challenge, to prove he was superior in strength by easily passing through Tien’s
Tri-Beam Attack. Instead, Cell found himself to be trapped, no matter how hard he tried,
Tien kept him at bay for as long as his energy and life force could hold out. After Tien
finally collapsed and Cell was freed, he replied saying something like: “I can’t believe a
weakling like Tien was able to hold me back! It’s almost too embarassing to bare!” Don’t
mistake those quotes as remarks about Tien’s Strength, that was Cell taking a moment to
blow off some steam as he had failed to prove he was the better fighter, in otherwords,
Cell’s Pride, above everything else, was torn. Overall, from being able to sneak up on #17
undetected (even after being beaten senseless by #16), catching Krillin and #18 off their
guard as they tried running away from him, and even catching Piccolo off guard when he
fired his Kamehameha as a distraction to really absorb him, if Cell was playing it smart
(as he usually does), Tien’s Attack would’ve proved useless, as Cell would’ve a found
away to avoid it. However, Cell was just one more step away from becoming complete,
so at this point, it would only be natural that he felt invincible, meaning he felt no need to
outsmart Tien. Cell charged ahead to prove he was stronger and in doing this, he played
Tien for a fool, because the more Cell got frustarted, he kept trying and his arrogance
caused Tien to wear out. That should help alittle to what I was saying.
