They haven't given out what happen'd to Mandara or who the Akatsuki leader is, but some people say it's Mandara, and some say it's the 4th. Time will only tell.

It hasnt come out in the Manga or the Shippuden series. Nor will it until probably like the very last episodes (or issues of the Manga)

the founder of the akatsuki who "supposedly" died so pein took over the role of leader although no one knew that madara is really tobi so really the leader is tobi
