Hey, I was thinking, are the opening/ending songs done for the animes or when they are doing the animes, they chose the songs and put them as op/end?

well some are done for the actual anime like 'NANA' and some are just chosen to be the Opening and the Ending like 'Naruto', and other animes

I've often wondered about that, some OP and ED songs don't seem to make any sense for some anime.

I started thinking about that when I was listening some FMA songs last month... XD And since then, I've been thinking about the other animes.
Hmm.. The songs for Death Note (This World and Alumina) were done for the anime, right? Because I think they make sense for the anime.. o_o

Most are just randomly picked for the anime, not made specifically for them. A sure way to tell is by looking up the artist's albums and seeing if the song is there. If it's made specifically for the anime, you'll probably just find it as a CD single, or if it's on an album it'll say "[Anime Title] Ending Theme". Etc etc.
