Anime Recommendations
I'm looking for another anime to eat up my downtime at college. I love Death Note, Paranoia Agent, and GITS: SAC, and I'm looking for something along those lines.
I really don't like Inuyasha or pretty much anything with Mechs. They never really clicked with me, and all those tropes that other people seem to find entertaining are just annoying to me. So I'd appreciate it if shows like that are avoided.
Thanks alot. I much appreciate it.

-IGPX (the one with racing)
Great plot, characters, and fights. It gets little to no recognition unfortunately. Still, you should definitely give this one a go.
-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
I've only seen two episodes but it looks great so far. A mix of humor, action, and backstory.
-Yu Yu Hakusho
One of my favorite anime of all time. Awesome battles and characters. You'll love the Dark Tournamnet and Chapter Black sagas. I guarantee it.
-Rurouni Kenshin
The manga is better but the anime is still good. Good story, characters, fights. A well balanced anime.
-Samurai Champloo
Amusing characters, creative blend of hip hop and samurais, and entertaining battles. A satisfying anime.
Those are just a few off the top of my head. These should keep you entertained for a while.

tengen toppa gurren lagann = the most kick ass show this season
even though you do'nt like mecha's i'll suggest to you "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion", just because it was one of the best anime's i've seen in a while (the character gives off a Light Complex
) (lathough it's licensed so watch out for it on the shelves, i certainly am ^_^ ,and i'm a guy who loves his fansubs)
Seto no Hanayome = great comedy some action
Strongest deciple in history: Kenichi = high comedy but full of martial arts fighting ^_^

Thanks for the recs, guys. I'll looking into them. I've seen a couple of episodes of Yu Yu Hakasu, and it seemed interesting.
Re: Anime Recommendations
Not sure what you mean by "Mechs", but FullMetal Alchemist is pretty good, a complex storyline though.

Ahh. Thanks. Well.. then.. I'm not that sure if he'd like FMA. Al, I don't know if he'd consider him a "robot" and there is a lot of metal in there.. Lol.
Decisions to decisions are made and not bought, but I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot. I guess not.

Re: Anime Recommendations
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the best show I've seen in YEARS. I'm waiting for the final episode right now, but so far it has been one hell of a roller coaster, and I will be quite sad when I finally finish it. Of course recommending it to the OP is useless since apparently he wants nothing to do with mecha.
Re: Anime Recommendations
I've actually seen some of FMA, and it's interesting. And no, I don't consider it "mecha". For me, mecha is twenty foot tall robots being operated by guys in cockpits. I can see some of the technical appeal ie the challenge of conveying a persona when the character's movements are limited to thrusting a throttle forward and screaming.

Re: Anime Recommendations
I would suggest 'Slayers', it's pretty awesome. There is also 'Mai Hime'...it has some metal animals in it that are protectors of the main characters but thats about all the 'robot' type things in it, after 'Mai Hime' there is 'Mai Otome' which is almost like 'Mai Hime' but in a alternate universe and the characters' Histories are different. Then there is also 'Excel Saga' if you like Action with lots of craziness. Also 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu' (english name is 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'). 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu' Is pretty big in America right now thats how I got into it. There are many others I would like to suggest but I think this is a long enough reply to this subject for now. ^^ Have a nice day!

Gunslinger Girl: A secret Italian government organization takes seriously injured girls, patch them up with artificial body parts, and "conditions" them to be assassins. Each girl is paired with an older man, and they work together as a "fratello" - a brother-sister unit. This moody show takes a look at these girls, and their different relationships with their supervisors. The focus is on Henrietta who is the least conditioned and the one who ponders the most about her newly given life. (taken from AniDB) (13 episodes)
Kino's Journey: Composed in the form of a series of short stories, this is the story of the travels of the human Kino and the talking motorbike Hermes. Kino and Hermes visit various different countries. (taken from AniDB) (13 episodes)
Genshiken: Based on a popular comic about the Japanese otaku lifestyle, this manga follows Sasahara Kanji as he dives face first into a world of anime, manga, video games, pornographic doujinshi, and the like. Kio Shimoku pokes fun at every element of the otaku world, so sit back and enjoy the ride. This is an anime for hardcore fans, with very complicated references that will test your knowledge of all things otaku. (taken from AniDB) (12 episodes)
Great Teacher Onizuka: Tough on the outside, all heart on the inside, Onizuka turned to the life of a high school teacher for less excitement and action... or so he thought. GTO is the racy story of Onizuka, a former motorcycle gang member who becomes a teacher to make a difference and... to meet girls? Using his street smarts to deal with colleagues, students and troublemakers, Onizuka finds that he too has many lessons to learn! (taken from AniDB) (43 episodes)
There are also many others I would recommend, but I think that's enough for now. You'll have your hands full anyway if you plan to watch all of the recommendations others have given you.
