Backwards compatible

Post by Hallow »

I was wondering about the backwards compatibility of consoles.

Lets say that you have a PS2, and want to play a PS1 game, do you need a PS1 memory card?

You can use PS2 memory cards for Ps1 games.

Wrong. I've done my research. The PS1 is not forwards compatible. No system is.

Thats heaps gay.
Whats the difference between memory cards? I'm guessing 1 would be size, but that shouldn't effect it.

The difference is the software on the memory card, as well as the software in the games.

It is. The PS1 memory card can't handle the games of a PS2.

Forwards compatibility would be impossible for programmers (etc) to determine. PS2 games cannot be saved on PS1 cards, and vice versa.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know the extent of the Wiivolution's compatibility with Gamecube?

As far as Nyxie has seen Dreams, it's like a big, cooler GC. But Nyxie only gets to play on Tyche's, so...

AA Hubbies: EL, Kura, AOH I wuv my hubbies. All 3 of them. <3
AA X-mas Pressy: Cloud AA Luv: Cold
AA Child: Dogboy, Pervert. AA Grandchild: Master InuYasha
That'll do fangirl, that'll do.

If you copy a PS1 save onto a PS2 Memory card it will work, but you cannot copy PS2 saves to a PS1 memory card.
And as far as I know it can only be done if you copy the PS1 save onto the PS2 Memory card by the Browser.

You Know, The Menu That comes up straight away after turning on a PS2? Its says 'Browser' and 'Control Configuration'. The Browser lets you access the Data on your Memory Card or start a Game if you put the disc in.

Even if you do put the data in there, it'll just be wasted. PS1 games can't access PS2 memory cards, I think. XD
